I am an artist

Not because I have an MFA, though that’d be cool.

And not because people buy my art, which is cool! Thanks people!

And not because I was born with a crayon in my fist, though that would have been awesome and weird.

I am an artist because, as Thoreau states, I am living the life I’ve imagined. And then I worked my fanny off to make it happen. Tons of classes, in person, on line, through books, and with Divine inspiration and intervention. I took measured consistent action to hone my craft that is as vital to my well being as champagne. 😉

As most Divine things I stumbled upon the wonderful world of Encaustics while studying Mediumship at Arthur Findlay College. Oh yea, I’m a psychic medium too, but that’s a different story for another day.

Encaustics had me from the very first time I held the tiny iron and colored wax in my hand. I was on a course to study mediumship and spirit art. Which is where the medium connects with the spirit and hopes to draw their likeness. Trippy! And AHHHHMAZING!

Well when I found I could paint portraits with wax, well it was a marriage made in heaven. I love color. I love faces. Put them together, well it’s like falling into a swimming pool filled with champagne! 

Through the classes I’ve taken, I also learned to love working in acrylics and mixed media. There is something captivating about mixing it all together and seeing the outcome, while also letting go of the outcome. I hope that makes some kind of sense, because in my head it does!

There are so many lovely mediums to play with, Art Mediums, people!!  With all the options out there it can be overwhelming and distracting or unearth hoarding tendencies, but the hoarder might only be me.

Whether you’re here to look at pretty paintings, and hopefully commission one for yourself! Or, because you’re intrigued and want to learn more about Encaustics, or perhaps you heard I’m a fine medium with a panache to capture faces in spirit; whatever the reason, I am beyond thrilled you’ve found me!
